Photography & beekeeping for me are two of life’s most interesting subjects. I’ve always been a nature lover and even as a little girl, I spent hours outside by the creek building dams, catching minnows, bugs, and even snakes. (much to my moms dismay, I’m sure!) As an adult, I’ve been a portrait photographer for almost 15 years, and now as my kids are getting older and that schedule is tough to keep, I’m finding myself drawn back to nature and love every opportunity to photograph my bees. Teaching others about bee keeping and photography is something I’ve become very passionate about, and hopefully that joy comes through in the information here to you!
Whether you are a beekeeper, or just a lover of life, learning how to capture these little friends with your camera is so much fun, and I must warn you… very addictive (just like beekeeping)!
This guide covers some of the basics of photography for beginners, lens recommendations, & also talks about how to capture bees in their environment. This information can easily be used for butterflies or any small subject. I hope you learn a lot and enjoy the ride!
