Am I still a photographer?

This is a real question I get fairy often. Do I still take pictures? The simple answer is yes! But, I have become a lot more intentional with my time. Maybe I am older and wiser? I don't know, but I am keenly aware that I will be an empty nester in 4 years. Yikes!! I truly value the time I have at home, and the time I spend with families and seniors taking photos.
One change I've made is that I no longer share many (or any) images of my clients on social media. While this might not be the best marketing strategy, I want to allow my clients the chance to share their own images if they wish. I used to enjoy watching people's reactions to my photos, as the comments and likes were nice. The past few years, I've discovered it's more fulfilling to see what images my friends and clients appreciate and to focus on making them happy, rather than trying to please or impress everyone on Facebook. Additionally, some clients prefer to keep their images private, and I respect that. This might be why people often ask if I still take photos. I don't even have a business Facebook page anymore, yet I'm as busy as I want to be.
Fall is a SUPER popular time for photos and I have had several people contact me in the last few weeks. Photographers have a very short window to capture autumn in her true glory as the backdrop to your family or senior wearing beautiful jewel toned sweaters and plaid. The bad news... it's a short season, it's dark super early and if we get one big Kansas gust of wind the leaves are gone..
Don't stress if we miss the fall backdrop.! Your family is actually what I want to capture. I will find a pretty spot. I promise.
This year I am planning a couple of dates to get in as many families as I can.. November 1st and November 8th! There might be a few other opportunities so if those dates don't work. Just get in touch with me.
Thanks for sticking with me. Every person I photograph is a divine appointment. God was so creative when He created you! The privilege of capturing you through my lens is not lost on me. It's always an honor and I hope you always know how much you are truly valued and loved.
